This supplement to The American Journal of Managed Care provides a clinical overview of pain management and the value of treatment with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The discussion includes evidence that helps quantify the clinical and economic impact of serious adverse events associated with NSAIDs. Also discussed is the role of dose reduction in mitigating these risks and the potential benefits associated with new lower-dose NSAID formulations.
