Reducing the Impact of Unintended Pregnancies (UIPs) on the US Health System

UIPs represent a significant public health issue and economic burden on the US healthcare

system.1,2 This supplement to The American Journal of Managed Care highlights the need for increased awareness regarding UIPs. Also discussed are community programs, government initiatives, and legislation that can help reduce the rate of UIPs through education and better access to preventive care (eg, preconception health counseling and long-acting reversible contraception).
