A piece published on Tech Talks, titled “AI can help manage hospital resources during the coronavirus crisis,” cited a study published in the January 2020 issue of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®) titled “Using Applied Machine Learning to Predict Healthcare Utilization Based on Socioeconomic Determinants of Care.” In the study, researchers demonstrated the possibility of generating a highly accurate model to predict inpatient and emergency department utilization using data on socioeconomic determinants of care.

An article from HealthITSecurity referenced a study published in the February 2018 issue of AJMC®, “Data Breach Locations, Types, and Associated Characteristics Among US Hospitals.” The study indicated that despite the high level of hospital adoption of electronic health records and the federal incentives to do so, the most common type of data breach in hospitals occurred with paper records and films.
