Over 10 million personal records of Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and customers were jeopardized when hackers gained access to the health plans database.

The company discovered the crime on August 5, but the actual attack had occurred years back on December 23, 2013. An internal investigation did not reveal any fraudulent use of the data.
