AJPB, Pharmacy Benefit Management Institute Launch Strategic Partnership to Support Members

PLAINSBORO, N.J. — The American Journal of Pharmacy Benefits (AJPB) and the Pharmacy Benefit Management Institute (PBMI) today unveiled a strategic partnership between the two organizations, which will provide professionals in the pharmacy benefit management industry with free access to both AJPB and its flagship publication, The American Journal of Managed Care (AJMC).

Both journals publish original, peer-reviewed research relevant to clinical leaders and policymakers as they work toward efficient delivery of high-quality care, while controlling costs. Both journals will be available to PBMI members in print, digital and mobile formats. In addition, the partnership provides opportunities for joint education, scholarship and marketing ventures.

“We look for partnerships that allow us to put the best research into the hands of the people who can put it to use right away,” said Brian Haug, president of AJPB and AJMC. “We want to promote better healthcare delivery, and working with PBMI helps us do that.”

Brenda Motheral, executive director of PBMI, commented that the arrangement “will provide a valuable added benefit to our members and help us to advance awareness of the resources that we offer to help plan sponsors navigate a rapidly changing pharmacy benefit marketplace.”

PBMI, founded in 1995, provides education and research to promote best practices among the nation’s plan sponsors, pharmacy benefit managers and other industry professionals involved in the delivery of drug benefits. It seeks to create the premier forum for health care purchasers to exchange ideas and information about how to maximize the value of the prescription drug benefit.

The American Journal of Pharmacy Benefits was founded in 2009 as a sister publication to The American Journal of Managed Care. The Journal is indexed in both EMBASE and Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and circulates to approximately 20,000 individuals with important decision-making responsibilities affecting the inclusion and tier placement of drugs on formularies. As the official publication of The Pharmacy & Therapeutics Society, the Journal is distributed to the Society’s 5000 members, as well as medical directors, pharmacy directors, corporate benefits managers, and other healthcare professionals.
