While it’s exciting to see more and more physicians wanting to participate in clinical, they need a little background, support, and infrastructure to do so, said Robert Gabbay, MD, PhD, chief medical officer and senior vice president of Joslin Diabetes Center.

He added that even the patients are getting excited about being involved and taking some part in their health and the research of health for others.

“In the end, you want a clinical trial that’s done right, that will get valid results, that will be able to improve care,” Dr Gabbay said. “I think it’s a great thing for patients as well because they then get access in some ways to newer therapies.”
