This supplement to The American Journal of Managed Care reviews the immunopathology of multiple sclerosis (MS), the symptoms and natural course of the disease, and the recently revised MS diagnostic criteria. It also describes current and emerging therapeutic strategies for slowing disease progression in patients with MS and their role in the treatment paradigm. Managed care implications, including the costs of MS and factors which influence access to medication, are also discussed.Faculty
