The Evidence Behind the Evidence: A Deeper Dive Into the Management of Chronic Heart Failure

During the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy’s 27th Annual Meeting & Expo, Barry H. Greenberg, MD, a nationally renowned cardiologist, and Kathryn V. Fitch, RN, MEd, a principal from Milliman, Inc, a leading actuarial firm, delivered a presentation intended to demonstrate that chronic heart failure is an epidemic growing to unsustainable levels and characterized by escalating costs and high hospitalization and mortality rates. Although patients are managed with current standard-of-care therapies, these challenges persist, and present a significant burden to the US health system, thereby creating a need for newer treatment options.
The American Journal of Managed Care has made available a conference report summarizing the presentation by Dr Greenberg and Ms Fitch.
