The event will offer presentations on addiction care and payment reform
CRANBURY, N.J--The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®) proudly announces that its ACO & Emerging Healthcare Delivery Coalition® Fall 2017 Meeting will take place on Oct. 26-27 in Nashville, TN. This annual gathering of healthcare experts serves as a platform for industry insiders to gain knowledge and exchange ideas about emerging healthcare delivery and payment models.
“With a desire to both improve quality of care and address the rising of healthcare costs, it’s more imperative now than ever to acknowledge and address some of the key issues facing the healthcare community. We look forward to discussing emerging delivery models and how they interface with specialty clinical care including oncology, cardiology, and addiction care and continue to focus on patient outcomes,” remarked Jeff Prescott, PharmD, senior vice president of managed markets at AJMC®.
Day one of the coalition will include a plenary presentation by Shantanu Agrawal, MD, MPhil, president and CEO, National Quality Forum. Idette Elizondo, MBA, manager, Veralon, will follow and discuss areas desperately needing improvement in accountable care organizations. After, Mark McGrail, MD, director of Addiction Medicine Services, Cherokee Health Systems will discuss team care for treating patients with addiction. Following, will be a panel discussion about addiction care by Marilyn Gaipa, vice president of clinical operations of United Healthcare Community and State, UnitedHealth Group; Frank James, MD, JD, medical director and primary clinical contact, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, American Society of Addiction Medicine; and Jennifer E. Moore, PhD, RN, executive director, Institute for Medicaid Innovation. Closing out day one will be Jerry D. Meece, BPharm, CDE, FACA, FAADE, owner and director, clinical services at Plaza Pharmacy and Wellness Center, discussing improving medication adherence for patients with diabetes.
The second day of the coalition will commence with a plenary presentation on politics and payment reform by renowned healthcare policy advocate, Clay Alspach, followed by an invigorating session led by Barbara Balik, EdD, MS, RN, who will expand on the topic of clinician burnout. The event will close with a recurring favorite: the 2020 series panel. The fall meeting discussion about the value-based care environment among specialists will include Rajesh Balkrishnan, PhD, professor of public health sciences, director — cancer population health core, UVA Cancer Center, clinical professor, University of Virginia School of Nursing; Michael Weinstein, MD, vice president, Digestive Health Physicians Association; Justin Bachmann, MD, cardiologist and clinical investigator, instructor of medicine and health policy, Vanderbilt University Medical Center; and Dennis P. Scanlon, PhD, professor, health policy and administration, and director, Center for Health Care and Policy Research, Pennsylvania State University.
