Article

This webcast is the second program of a continuing series focused on quality payment programs.

CRANBURY, N.J.--The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®), the leading peer-reviewed journal dedicated to topics in managed care, will host the webcast, “Implementing the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) for Improved Population Health,” on Jan. 31 at 12 pm, 3 pm, and 6 pm. The webcast will be moderated by Kavita Patel, MD, nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, co-founder of Tuple Health, and primary care physician at Johns Hopkins Medicine. Patel will be joined by Stephen Grubbs, MD, clinical assistant professor of medicine at Thomas Jefferson Medical School and vice president of the Clinical Affairs Department, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and Robin Zon, MD, chair of the government relations committee at the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

“This robust webcast delves into the impact and practical aspect of participating the MIPS program on patients and the medical community,” said Jeff Prescott, PharmD, senior vice president of Managed Markets. “The expertise of our guest speakers will help medical professionals make more informative decisions when considering implementing these models in their practice.”

The webcast, part of an ongoing series, offers insights on the implementation and impact of the MIPS arm of CMS’s Quality Payment Program for oncology practices. The featured speakers will discuss the importance of the program for the medical community, the role of these programs in improving patient outcomes, and the advantages and disadvantages of letting physicians choose the measures by which they can be evaluated.

The first webcast in the series, “Alternative Payment Models in Oncology—Implementing APMs: Focus on the Oncology Care Model,” is now available online: http://www.ajmc.com/interactive-tools/focus-on-the-oncology-care-model.
