Thomas Hoerger, PhD, talks about minimizing costs and obtaining better diabetes treatment outcomes. In order to lower costs in patients with diabetes, hospital admissions must be controlled through achieving and maintaining glycemic, blood pressure, and cholesterol level targets.

When asked if costs associated with diabetes management could be reigned in, Dr. Hoerger states that diabetes prevention is an integral key to controlling costs. It’s important to monitor people without diabetes in order to slow the growth of the disease.
