Authored by researchers from Virginia Commonwealth University, the handbook focuses on the use of a specialized type of PHR, known as an interactive preventive health record. An IPHR, designed to operate as a component of a practice's electronic health record, can bolster use of preventive services such as health screenings, counseling and immunizations, according to the guide.
