Twenty-eight health systems have joined together across the country so far to participate in an effort launched last year called the Medicaid Transformation Project, which aims to improve healthcare and related social needs, including behavioral health and mental health, for the 1 in 5 Americans on Medicaid. The American Journal of Managed Care® recently sat down with David Smith, the executive director of the project, to get an update about the integration challenges health systems are facing, including system issues, infrastructure issues, coding and payment issues, and more.
