Episode 25 - Closing Remarks

As the panel discussion concludes, expert panelists share their final insights about the current US healthcare system and its initiatives to combat cardiovascular disease and cardiometabolic events.

David Calabrese, RPh, MHP, explains that although challenges exist they are not “insurmountable.” He believes that in order to overcome the current treatment barriers, a patient-centric approach is necessary when caring for patients.

Kenneth L. Schaecher, MD, FACP, CPC, and Yehuda Handelsman, MD, FACP, FACE, FNLA, agree that medicine is at an exciting era in the US, as new innovations provide additional tools to help coordinate care between clinicians and their patients. However, Dr Handelsman reminds that the US needs to develop programs that help pay for the expensive costs of healthcare.

Michael Weber, MD, concludes the discussion by defining preventive medicine and explains its importance when managing cardiometabolic conditions.
