Episode 3 - The Diversity of Patient Populations

Many of the comorbid cardiometabolic disorders are tied to complex, multifaceted, and oftentimes overlapping origins. Such is the case of obesity, which in many patients, is the precursor to diabetes. While certain regions of the US, such as the south and southeast, tend to experience a higher prevalence of obesity and diabetes, these disorders are rooted in various behavioral, environmental, and genetic components. As such, the management of these comorbid conditions is often complicated. However, with advancing technology, improving drug pipelines, and evolving clinical practice guidelines, the healthcare and managed care communities are becoming better equipped to tackle the burden of comorbid cardiometabolic diseases.
