The Community on Payment Innovations (www.CardioSource.org/PaymentInnovations) is a partnership between the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and (AJMC), with funding from Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

As a healthcare economist, I’ve spent my career looking at ways to reduce healthcare costs without sacrificing quality of care. Now, given the changing practice landscape and the push toward delivery system reform, it is clear that realigning provider payment systems is crucial for success. The big question, however, is how?

The Community on Payment Innovations is designed to help answer this question. Its goal is to serve as the premier online venue for stakeholders and experts to share experiences, opinions, and views. It looks to provide authoritative information to spur discussion, improve knowledge, and help us better understand key and emerging issues in the payment innovations arena.

Like all vibrant communities, participation is key to success. The entire editorial board and I are committed to playing active roles in generating content and discussions, but as healthcare professionals, you are on the front lines of patient care and best able to provide real-world examples of challenges and best practices.
