Tracy Watts, senior partner at Mercer Human Resource Consulting, says that health management programs are hugely important. In a survey that polled 3000 employers, Mercer found that employers that implemented the highest number of best practices had, on average, cost increases of 2% less compared with those that had the fewest number of implemented best practices.
The survey also found that of 700 employers polled, 8% sponsored a minimum essential coverage plan that was less than 60% design, while another 20% of employers said they were interested in offering one in the future.
“The idea behind the minimum essential coverage is to provide a plan that is even lower cost than what is deemed to be the minimum design and affordable by the law,” says Ms Watts.
