Robert A. Gabbay, MD, PhD, FACP
is the chief medical officer and senior vice president of Joslin Diabetes Center and a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School. An ABIM certified physician in endocrinology and medicine, he is a graduate of the State University of New York at Brooklyn School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center. He was chief resident, Department of Medicine, New York Downtown Hospital, and served a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. During his tenure at Penn State University, he served as faculty chair of Pennsylvania's statewide Chronic Care Model-focused Patient-Centered Medical Home initiative. Dr. Gabbay was an early leader in alternative payment and delivery models in diabetes care, and is dedicated to bring the patient-centered medical neighborhood model of diabetes care to his work at Joslin.
