A piece by Best Life referenced an article published on AJMC.com, the website of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). The article, “Taking Immunosuppressants? Fauci Says Get the COVID-19 Vaccine,” covered the keynote speech of Anthony Fauci, MD, the chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden, at the 62nd annual American Society of Hematology (ASH) meeting. Speaking about the importance of vaccination, Fauci highlighted the benefits of some degree of COVID-19 immunity compared with no protection for immunocompromised individuals.
An article posted on seekingalpha.com cited a study published in the August 2015 issue of AJMC®, titled, “Opportunity Costs of Ambulatory Medical Care in the United States.” Researchers conducted an analysis of the opportunity cost associated with ambulatory medical care in the United States and found substantial time costs for individuals and society.
A piece by the Daily Mirror spotlighted an article published on AJMC.com, titled, “How Much Does It Cost to Give Birth in the United States? It Depends on the State.” In examining the cost of giving birth in the United States, the article indicated that cost can vary by thousands of dollars depending on the state, with inpatient birth charges amounting to roughly $8300 in Arkansas, compared with nearly $20,000 in New York.
The Federal Trade Commission's (FTC's) vote to ban most employers from issuing and enforcing noncompete clauses could have varying impacts on the health care workforce; federal regulators vastly under-enforced antitrust laws in the hospital sector during the last 2 decades, resulting in increased health costs; the FDA recently found genetic evidence of the H5N1 bird flu virus in pasteurized commercially purchased milk.
