This article presents an example of how clinical trial data may be complemented by real-world evidence by reviewing pivotal clinical trial data for one direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC), along with an observational retrospective real-world database analysis that evaluated the effectiveness and safety of that DOAC in the real world.
