The Patient‑Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) takes 2 different approaches to conduct research and gather evidence to help patients make decisions, Joe V. Selby, MD, MPH, executive director of PCORI, said at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy's 27th Annual Meeting & Expo.
"Our primary mission is really to conduct clinical research that answers unanswered questions about, for example, which treatment approach provides better outcomes for which patient," he said.
The other concern of PCORI is that information that is out there isn't getting into the discussions between patients and physicians, Dr Selby added.
