Dr Petricoin is co-director of the Center for Applied Proteomics and Molecular Medicine at George Mason University, and co-founder of Perthera Inc, a personalized medicine firm in McLean, Virginia, where he also chairs the Scientific Advisory Board. Formerly, Dr Petricoin was co-director of the FDA-NCI Clinical Proteomics Program and a senior investigator within the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research at the FDA.
Democratizing the complex field of cancer care is not easy. We are providing patients with key information that their own cancer is unique and needs to be treated as such, but there is a great deal of work to be done in putting that knowledge to work.
Innovative trials offer the promise that patients can be treated in their own communities instead of traveling to faraway cancer centers.
