As September marks National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, we sat down with ovarian cancer survivor Marion Roth and Vaagn Andikyan, MD, gynecologic oncologist, Western Connecticut Health Network, to discuss Marion's cancer journey and the importance of a multidisciplinary care team in treating complexities in cancer care.
In 2016, 56-year-old Marion Roth was diagnosed with a rare type of ovarian cancer. She had also been living with type 1 diabetes for nearly 48 years, bringing further complication to her diagnosis and a need for a multidisciplinary team to treat her. Throughout her cancer treatment, Marion was under the care of Vaagn Andikyan, MD, gynecologic oncologist, Western Connecticut Health Network, and Kevin Jain, MD, medical oncologist, Danbury Hospital, as well as Robert Savino, DO, endocrinologist, Western Connecticut Medical Group. Together, the multidisciplinary team collaborated to develop an effective and safe plan to treat Marion's cancer while also maintaining her diabetes treatment.
As September marks National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, we sat down with Marion and Dr Andikyan to discuss Marion's cancer journey and the importance of a multidisciplinary care team in treating complexities in cancer care.
