A one-minute look at managed care news during the week of February 16, 2015, including extended open enrollment under the Affordable Care Act and shared decision-making for cancer treatments.
The second year of open enrollment under the Affordable Care Act ended with 11.4 million individuals signing up for healthcare coverage, which exceeds the target of 9 million set last year. That number will likely grow as CMS announced it will extend open enrollment for some to avoid the increased tax penalty for not having health insurance.
A new study found that cancer patients preferred shared decision-making for treatments and associated it with higher quality of care.
This year will be the 4th annual Patient-Centered Oncology Care meeting. You can see the agenda or register at http://www.ajmc.com/meetings/pcoc15
