Novel TB Vaccine Fails to Protect Infants

A tuberculosis (TB) vaccine candidate was safe and immunogenic but not efficacious in infants, researchers reported.

In a randomized trial of 2,797 infants, the vaccine candidate was well-tolerated compared with a placebo injection and induced "modest" cell-mediated immune responses, according to Helen McShane, MD, of the University of Oxford, and colleagues.
