Number 5: During his second State of the Union address, President Trump highlighted past bipartisan accomplishments, such as legislation addressing the opioid crisis, but also outlined new initiatives for childhood cancer and HIV.

Number 4: While immunotherapy has seen great success in cancers like melanoma and lung cancer, glioblastoma has not been among the immunotherapy success stories, with few advances in more than a decade. However, this next year may bring a different story for the disease.

Number 3: CMS has proposed requiring patients to enroll in CMS registries and be tracked for 2 years in order for institutions to receive Medicare reimbursement for CAR T-cell therapy.

Number 2: A study in this month’s issue of AJMC® found that the majority of value-based arrangements are not publicly disclosed, which could underestimate their true prevalence and impact.

Number 1: Three years after UnitedHealthcare named Medtronic its preferred supplier of insulin pumps for adults, the insurer has extended the pact to youth starting at age 7. The decision has alarmed the type 1 diabetes community, who said insurance restrictions are bad for people with the condition.
