An article by HealthLeaders cited a study published in the September 2022 issue of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). In the study, “Insurers Negotiate Lower Hospital Prices for HIX Than for Commercial Groups,” hospital price transparency data suggested that health insurance exchange plans get lower negotiated rates than commercial group plans and higher negotiated rates than Medicare Advantage plans.

The article covered recent daily news updates, including how nonprofit hospitals pursue profits from low-income patients and an announcement by the Biden administration that $1.5 billion would be set aside to battle opioid overdoses and support recovery.
An article by Digital Health referenced a 2020 study published in a supplement to AJMC®, titled “Economic Burden of Alzheimer Disease and Managed Care Considerations.” The study indicated that health care costs associated with the treatment of Alzheimer disease were an estimated $305 billion in 2020.
