IDSA: Copper Covering May Cut Hospital Infection Rates

ICU rooms equipped with copper surfaces may decrease the risk of hospital-acquired infections by nearly half, according to researchers who presented an abstract of their study at the 49th Annual Meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA).

The researchers’ preliminary findings suggest the potential for lowered costs and better patient outcomes.
