Prior to this first therapy for repigmentation being approved, the only approved therapy was a depigmenting agent, which is usually the opposite of what providers are trying to accomplish with treatment.

Coverage of vitiligo treatments is variable and patients can face an economic burden in the form of direct and indirect costs, explained David Rosmarin, MD, vice chair, education and research at Tufts Medical Center.

Patients with vitiligo are often impacted mentally, and they can spend a lot of time utilizing cosmetic products, said David Rosmarin, MD, vice chair, education and research at Tufts Medical Center.
