Kerri Sparling Sees Positive Changes for Patient Engagement in Diabetes Care

Video

Patients with diabetes are entering a new era in which they can take charge of their own health and medical needs and come ready with questions and ideas to manage their disease, said Kerri Sparling, writer/editor of patient diabetes blog Six Until Me.

As a patient, Kerri Sparling has always viewed healthcare as patient-centered, and she believes recent initiatives to push patient-centered care more should be about embracing these care practices more.

She said that patients with diabetes are entering a new era in which they can take charge of their own health and medical needs and come ready with questions and ideas to manage their disease.

“I think the uprising is starting with the patient and I’m very proud to be a part of that, but I’m also really proud to see the medical community meeting us in the middle because that produces the best health outcomes for everybody,” Ms Sparling said.
