Walker’s work highlights why multistakeholder perspectives are critical for health IT used by both clinicians and patients

CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Daniel Walker, Ph.D., MPH, will serve as the special guest editor of the 10th annual health information technology (IT) issue of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®), which will be published in January.

Walker is an assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, as well as in The Center for the Advancement of Team Science, Analytics, and Systems Thinking in Health Services and Implementation Science Research (CATALYST). Walker studies efforts to use health IT to improve communication, interorganizational coordination and patient engagement. He also seeks to address equity issues related to the digital divide.

Walker has served as a principal investigator and coinvestigator on federal, state and privately funded projects, and his work has been published in a range of outlets, including AJMC®, Health Affairs, Health Services Research and Medical Care.

“I am thrilled to work with AJMC® on the 10th installment of the special health IT issue. Innovation and growth of technology continue to advance and contribute to ongoing transformation of the U.S. health care system,” Walker said. “I look forward to reviewing submissions highlighting evidence about both successes and missed opportunities for health IT to align with new models of care delivery, particularly in the areas of data exchange, analytics and consumer use of digital health tools.”
