Articles from the Rhode Island Current and Pharmaceutical Technology referenced a commentary published in the March 2025 issue of Population Health, Equity & Outcomes, the sister journal of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®) The article, “Overdiagnosis of Adult ADHD Is Exacerbating the Stimulant Shortage,” argued that the stimulant shortage is due to executive functioning deficits not being included in diagnostic criteria, leading to an overdiagnosis of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

An article from Fierce Healthcare referenced an article published on AJMC.com, the website of AJMC. The article, “How Insurance Claim Denials Harm Patients’ Health, Finances,” covered how delays in receiving medication can increase costs, worsen symptoms, and add stress on patients who need the essential medication as soon as possible. They also noted that claim denials have increased in the US by 16% from 2018 to 2024, exacerbating this issue.
