The AMCP Nexus 2025 conference will bring together professionals to discuss drug access and policy, as well as the future of pharmacy.

Thousands of managed care professionals will gather next week in National Harbor, Maryland, just south of Washington, DC, for the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Nexus 2025 conference, providing a fitting backdrop for discussions on the future of pharmacy and health care in the US.

From October 27 to 30, nearly 3000 attendees from academic institutions, health plans, government agencies, and more will convene at Gaylord National Harbor to examine how the Inflation Reduction Act and the One Big Beautiful Bill are reshaping drug pricing, access, and reimbursement.1 Other topics on the agenda include formulary development, value-based care, biosimilars, real-world evidence, and artificial intelligence (AI)–driven innovation.

These subjects will be explored through more than 30 continuing education (CE)–accredited sessions, spotlight theaters featuring expert-led discussions, and over 400 poster presentations. Among the CE-accredited sessions is a reimagined “fundamentals” series, providing attendees with essential insights into key industry topics. There is also a real-world evidence track, designed for professionals seeking practical strategies and regulatory guidance.

Additionally, attendees can hear from keynote speaker Paul Ryan, former speaker of the House, on the evolving health policy landscape and its impact on managed care pharmacy during the general session on Tuesday, October 28, at 8:30 AM.2 Ryan will reflect on the first year of President Trump’s second term, discuss strategies for collaboration despite disagreements, and weigh in on specific managed care policy and legislative issues relevant to attendees.

AMCP Nexus 2025 will also offer a range of experiences beyond traditional learning.1 Attendees can network with peers during built-in breaks, relax and recharge as needed in the expo hall’s dedicated “Zen Den,” or update their headshot in the headshot lounge.

Ahead of next week’s festivities, Susan Cantrell, CEO of AMCP, shared exclusive insights with The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®), including what she is personally most excited about for AMCP Nexus 2025.3

“The thing that excites me the most about the upcoming Nexus 2025 conference is really the fact that we’re bringing together leading health care decision-makers who are really shaping the future of prescription drug access and affordability at such a pivotal time,” Cantrell told AJMC. “The definition of the word ‘nexus’ is the core, or the center that brings the various parts together, and I think that’s really relevant for this year’s meeting.”

In conjunction with the conference, AMCP will host the inaugural AMCP Pharmacy Policy Summit on October 27.4 This summit will bring together leading health policy experts to explore solutions to the most pressing challenges facing pharmacy, particularly managed care pharmacy, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, Medicaid reform, pharmacy benefit manager reform, the 340B program, and biosimilars and generics.

Designed to spark collaboration, drive innovation, and create real-world impact, the summit will equip attendees with actionable insights to bring back to their organizations. In a blog post, Adam Colborn, JD, associate vice president of congressional affairs at AMCP, noted that attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the policy environment, practical advocacy strategies, and insights from peers facing similar challenges.

“…the summit is your platform to influence what comes next,” he wrote. “By connecting with thought leaders through AMCP, your voice will help shape how AI, access, and affordability are addressed in the months and years ahead. Better policy starts with better conversations.”
