The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced several Affordable Care Act initiatives aimed at keeping more chronically ill patients at home for care.
HHS announced Thursday that it had issued a final rule for the Community First Choice program, which increases the federal Medicaid funding match by 6 percentage points for states that provide home attendants and other forms of support to Medicaid enrollees who would otherwise need to be in a nursing home.

FDA Approves bluebird bio's Lovo-Cel Gene Therapy for Sickle Cell Disease
December 10th 2023The decision was supported by efficacy data from 36 patients from the ongoing phase 1/2 HGB-206 trial (NCT02140554) and 2 patients in the phase 3 HGB-210 trial (NCT04293185). It was the second approval from FDA for a gene therapy for sickle cell disease.
