Providing a comprehensive round up of updates coming out of the 2018 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, Evidence-Based Oncology™, a sister publication of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®), has released its ASCO recap issue. The issue was promoted by The Daily Times, a daily newspaper in Tennessee. Highlighted updates include findings from the TAILORx trial for breast cancer and an update on chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy.

The National Pharmaceutical Council’s Monday CER Daily Newsfeed mentioned 2 articles from AJMC®. The article, “Value-Based Pricing Is in Place, but Prices for a Single Drug Vary,” covers a study that offered caution as value-based pricing gains traction in the US healthcare market. The authors say distinctions in both method and likelihood of improving aligning prices with value should be carefully considered. Reporting on the FDA’s guidance on electronic record (EHR) data use, the article “FDA Finalizes Guidance on Use of EHR Data in Clinical Investigations,” outlines the recommendations and best practices provided in the guidance.

In a press release on the opening of new MDVIP-affiliated practices, a study from AJMC® on the personalized healthcare model was highlighted. The study, “Personalized Preventive Care Leads to Significant Reductions in Hospital Utilization,” assessed the impact of the MDVIP model on hospital utilization and found that MDVIP members’ rates were significantly lower than nonmembers’.
