An article by Health Payer Intelligence cited a study published in the June 2020 issue of AJMC®, titled “Value-Based Insurance Design in Louisiana: Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Zero Dollar Co-pay Program.” The study indicated that enrollment in a value-based insurance design program that eliminated pharmacy co-pays for 4 chronic disease drug classes was associated with a large decline in health care spending.

Medical Xpress’ article, “Effect of high-deductible insurance use in bipolar disorder,” referenced a study published in the June 2020 issue of AJMC®. The study, “Effect of High-Deductible Insurance on Health Care Use in Bipolar Disorder,” found that high-deductible health plan members with bipolar disorder experienced a reduction in nonpsychiatrist mental health provider visits but no changes in other utilization.

MedCity News mentioned a study published in the March 2019 issue of AJMC®’s sister journal, Evidence-Based Diabetes Management™. The study, “A New Era: Increasing Continuous Glucose Monitoring Use in Type 2 Diabetes,” found that continuous glucose monitors are increasingly accessible and effective for patients with type 2 diabetes, and even those with prediabetes, as a means for real-time biofeedback and behavior change.
