Dr Nichols suggests that payments reforms within the Affordable Care Act (ACA) have been essential in reducing readmissions and incentivizing value-based purchasing. He adds that the Community Health Needs Assessments, which are mandated by the ACA, helped many hospitals to consider the health needs of their local populations.
