Dr Kumar says there is always a need for physician education because the field of multiple myeloma treatment is constantly evolving. As well, Ms Young says that when physicians learn of ongoing clinical trials, they can raise patients’ awareness to them and recommend them for an appropriate trial.

Education and clinical trials also extend beyond the United States. Spain and Greece are just two of many countries that have contributed to the advancement of multiple myeloma treatment.

Understanding the how’s and why’s of treatment are essential to influencing the costs associated with multiple myeloma care.
