The American Journal of Managed Care® Seeks Nominations for 2021 Seema S. Sonnad Emerging Leader in Managed Care Research Award

The annual award program recognizes rising leaders in the field of managed care research who are already making exceptional long-term contributions.

CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®), the leading peer-reviewed journal dedicated to issues in managed care, is excited to announce that nominations have officially opened for the 2021 Seema S. Sonnad Emerging Leader in Managed Care Research Award. Nominations are now being accepted through June 15, 2021.

“For the last six years, we have been so impressed with the astounding nominations for the Seema S. Sonnad Emerging Leader in Managed Care Research Award that we have received from managed care professionals across the country,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president and CEO of MJH Life Sciences™, the parent company of AJMC®. “Recognizing rising leaders is a great way to celebrate those who are going above and beyond and show potential for a very promising future in the managed care field.”

This year’s winner will be selected by the award committee based on the following criteria:

  • The nominee must be less than five years from the receipt of their highest degree or less than seven years from their first full-time position.
  • Applications should consist of a letter of recommendation outlining the nominee’s contributions and merit, a curriculum vitae and, if applicable, the publication or acceptance of a paper in AJMC®.

Applications from managed care professionals worldwide are welcomed. AJMC® readers can nominate themselves or others.

Since 2015, the Seema S. Sonnad Emerging Leader in Managed Care Research Award has recognized medical professionals who are reaching exceptional heights in the field of managed care early on in their careers. Previous winners include esteemed medical professionals Renuka Tipirneni, M.D., M.Sc., University of Michigan; Inmaculada Hernandez, Pharm.D., Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy; Erin Trish, Ph.D., University of Southern California; Ilana Graetz, Ph.D., University of Tennessee Health Science Center; Zirui Song, M.D., Ph.D., Harvard Medical School; and Julia Adler-Milstein, Ph.D., University of Michigan.

To commemorate Seema S. Sonnad, Ph.D., her exemplary leadership and the valuable mentoring she provided to her fellows and trainees, AJMC® dedicated this award in her honor. Sonnad’s research, countless contributions and collaborations will continue to positively impact health care and the generation of investigators she helped train for years to come.

The 2021 Seema S. Sonnad Emerging Leader in Managed Care Research Award winner will be honored during this year’s 10th annual Patient-Centered Oncology Care® conference Friday, Sept. 24 in Nashville, Tennessee.
