The American Journal of Managed Care® to Feature Insights by Industry Experts During the Patient-Centered Oncology Care® Meeting

The forum will discuss tactics to strengthen oncology care that is focused on patients

CRANBURY, N.J.--The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®), the leading peer-reviewed journal dedicated to issues in managed care, will host the Patient-Centered Oncology Care® (PCOC®) meeting on Nov. 16-17 at the Loews Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. The program will be chaired and co-moderated by Joseph Alvarnas, MD, director of value-based analytics, director of clinical quality, Alpha Clinic for Cell Therapy and Innovation; associate professor, Department of Hematology and Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation, City of Hope, Duarte, California; who will be joined by Margaret O’ Grady, RN, MSN, OCN, FAAMA, administrative director, Oncology Service Line, Abington Memorial Hospital, Jefferson Health System, Abington, Pennsylvania.

The event will also include a keynote address by Michael Kolodziej, MD, vice president and chief innovation officer at ADVI Health and former national medical director at both Flatiron Health and Aetna.

“We are beyond excited to host this year’s PCOC® meeting. Our expert guest speakers will share some of the most pressing issues that concern healthcare professionals in this rapidly changing space of oncology care. Additionally, this is an exciting opportunity for managed care and oncology professionals to gather and discuss the impact they have on patient care,” said Jeff Prescott, PharmD, senior vice president of Managed Markets.

The two-day educational forum agenda comprises of robust discussions on regulation, digital technology, value, and patient-centered care. Day one of the program will include:

  • An update on regulatory changes within the FDA by Sean Khozin, MD, MPH, acting director of FDA’s Oncology Center of Excellence
  • A panel discussion on digital technology with Torrie K. Fields, MPH, Blue Shield of California; Andrew L. Pecora, MD, FACP, CPE, Regional Cancer Care Associates; and Kathleen Lokay, Via Oncology, about the impact of digital data collection and its impact on quality assessment.

Day two of the forum will commence with a presentation about value, which will include:

  • Remarks by Lalan Wilfong, MD, Texas Oncology, about the learnings from CMS’ Oncology Care Model
  • The conference will conclude with a panel on patient-centered care and a panel on sharing the importance of teamwork in care transitions by Michael Diaz, MD, Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute; Rose Gerber, Community Oncology Alliance; and Stacey McCullough PharmD, Tennessee Oncology
