Hurford, MD, president/CEO, Community Care Behavioral Health Managed Care Organization, and vice president, Behavioral Health, UPMC Insurance Services Division, and Michael Lynch, MD, associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and an attending emergency physician and medical toxicologist at UPMC.
Together, they are at the forefront of advancing behavioral health care management and treatment and reducing the pervasive stigma surrounding the disease we call addiction. Among the topics we hit on are the 4 crucial dimensions of recovery—health, home, purpose, and community—and the understanding that addiction is a brain disease, not a moral failing.
