
Improving health literacy is essential for promoting health equity, reducing preventable illness, and making health care more effective.

Elena Fenster is a second-year Master of Public Health candidate at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. She is studying in the Department of Health Policy and Management and pursuing a certificate in Health Policy Analysis. She earned her BS in Population Health with honors from Lehigh University in 2024. Elena is passionate about advancing health equity through data-informed policymaking and aims to pursue a career focused on reducing health disparities and driving impactful public health reform. She is currently a research intern at the Center for Innovation & Value Research.
