Health information technology presents an exciting opportunity for researchers interested in applied work, according to Karen B. DeSalvo, MD, MPH, MSc, National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.

Whether from HHS or large health systems and payers, there are increasingly available data sources for people in big data analytics. Now researchers are looking not only at healthcare value, but influences on health and how providers can intervene.
